However, there was decisive evidence toward negative Likert responses for the domains ‘Staffing and management’ (99.9%, BF>1000 (decisive)) and ‘Team working’ (99.3%, BF=132 (decisive)). Significant differences also emerged in favour of smaller hospitals for ‘Teamwork’ (96.2%, BF=26 (very strong)), clinical pharmacists (n=51) versus technicians (n=21) for ‘Perceptions of the causes of incidents/reporting’, ‘Teamwork’ and ‘Commitment to patient safety and education’ (99.9%, BF>1000 (decisive), for all). Also for pharmacists affiliated with a professional association (n=54) compared with all staff without an affiliation (n=43) (99.9%, BF>1000 (decisive)). Conclusions: Our findings identify important influences on the patient safety culture of hospital pharmacy, including the role of hospital type, pharmacy staff group and membership with professional-advocacy groups. A better understanding of the factors which drive these differences is necessary for pharmacy services to better embrace safety improvement initiatives.]]> Tue 11 Aug 2015 11:46:49 AEST ]]> Inter-rater reliability of manual QT measurement and prediction of abnormal QT,HR pairs https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:7333 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:35:14 AEDT ]]> The risk of coronary thrombosis with cyclo-oxygenase-2 inhibitors does not vary with polymorphisms in two regions of the cyclo-oxygenase-2 gene https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:13913 C) and rs5275 (T > C) polymorphisms was performed by real-time polymerase chain reaction using allele-specific probes. Results: Ingestion of any NSAID in the week prior to interview was associated with an elevated risk for ACS: adjusted odds ratio 1.8 (1.2, 2.5). The rs 20417 and rs 5275 polymorphisms were not singly associated with risk for ACS: adjusted odds ratios 1.1 (0.80, 1.5) and 1.2 (0.88, 1.5), respectively. Individually, the polymorphisms did not modify the risk of ACS with the drugs. When analyses were conducted by haplotype, the adjusted odds ratio with celecoxib or rofecoxib in individuals who had one or two copies of the ‘low risk’ haplotype (no GT) was 1.2 (0.29, 5.0), compared with 2.1 (1.1, 4.0) with the ‘high risk’ haplotype (one or two copies of GT). Conclusions: We found little evidence of a gene/drug interaction. We found a statistically non-significant trend toward a lower risk of coronary events with NSAIDs in the presence of the ‘low risk’ haplotype. Even if confirmed, the clinical utility of the finding would be limited as this haplotype is carried by a minority of the population.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:25:27 AEDT ]]> Systematic review of interventions in the management of overweight and obese children which include a dietary component https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12865 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:14:49 AEDT ]]> Randomized controlled trial of intramuscular droperidol versus midazolam for violence and acute behavioral disturbance: the DORM Study https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:11519 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:10:23 AEDT ]]> Sedation assessment tool to score acute behavioural disturbance in the emergency department https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:12298 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:10:08 AEDT ]]> Effect of activated charcoal on citalopram-induced QT prolongation: reply (letter) https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:5173 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:47:42 AEDT ]]> MaxEnt elicited priors with Mathematica - derivation and use https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:25414 Mathematica function FindRoot. The method exploits the fact that Mathematica allows an InterpolationFunction to be fitted to a list of the form, say, {{0, ord₁}, {0.1, ord₂}, {0.2, ord₃}, … where the ordinates ordi are symbolic. The resulting InterpolationFunction can be manipulated just like any conventionally defined function, so that means, variances, CDF values, or other quantities elicited from a domain expert can be expressed in terms of the ordi. This paper presents an improved method for finding these MaxEnt distributions, and shows how the MaxEnt PDF can be expressed as a piecewise polynomial function, or a “one-piece” polynomial function using step-type basis functions. Some further Mathematica string manipulation can render such expressions in R [3] or BUGS [4] syntax for use, say, as a prior distribution in a Bayesian analysis.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:27:23 AEDT ]]>
